| The Forest Service plans to cut down trees for 1/3 of a mile
along this popular recreation trail, which leads directly into the Rattlesnake
Wilderness. This photo is taken within unit 1 of the post-fire "salvage"
logging project. Notice that the fire didn’t even burn this part
of the forest. As you can see, the last thing this forest and the wildlife
that lives here needs is chainsaws and heavy logging equipment. In fact,
this forest is home to Canada Lynx and the watershed contains bull trout
– both species are protected under the Endangered Species Act. |
