Environmental Groups Organize Earth Day Restoration Weed Pull
at Local Trailhead

EARTH DAY, MISSOULA MT - To help celebrate the 35th anniversary
of Earth Day and highlight the serious threat noxious weeds
pose to our National Forests, volunteers with the Native Forest
Network and National Forest Protection Alliance will be conducting
a Restoration Weed Pull at the Sawmill Gulch Trailhead near
the Rattlesnake National Recreation Area.
"Noxious weeds pose a serious threat to the health of our
watersheds, forests and grasslands on National Forests,"
stated Matthew Koehler with the . "We hope to take a small
step in combating that serious problem today, but also help
educate the public and forest users about simple steps they
can take to help stop and slow the spread of noxious weeds."
Lolo National Forest officials will also be on hand to talk
specifically about noxious weed issues in Western Montana and
give tips on steps that individuals and forest uses can take
to stop and slow the spread of noxious weeds on the Lolo National
Forest.
WHAT: Restore the Earth: Earth Day Restoration Weed Pull at
Sawmill Gulch Trailhead in the Rattlesnake.
WHEN: Friday, April 22, (Earth Day) 12:00 noon - 2:00 PM
WHERE: Sawmill Gulch Trailhead at the Rattlesnake National Recreation
Area. The Sawmill Gulch trailhead is located approximately 1/4
mile west of the main Rattlesnake Trailhead.
