"The people of Montana and America have already spoken
with one voice saying 'protect these wild areas.'"
"We believe that common ground has been reached in Montana
among conservationists and the logging industry that our remaining
wildlands should be protected. This new rule from Washington
D.C. has the potential to walk all over that common ground."
"What message does this rule send to the millions of people
in Montana and around the country who have already participated
in some 600 local public meetings and submitted over four million
comments in favor of protecting our remaining public wildlands?
Unfortunately, this new rule shows the Administration's willingness
to break promises, ignore public input, and shirk its responsibility
to protect our public National Forests for future generations."
"In lean budget times why in the world should Montana taxpayers
be forced to spend money repeating a process that has already
had broad public participation and found broad public support
for keeping our precious wildlands the way they are? This is
money Montanans should be spending on education or assisting
those in need." |
